In 1979, the Rhode Island Blood Center was established by the hospitals in Rhode Island as a private, not for profit agency to collect, test, and distribute blood products. Today, the Rhode Blood Center is a division of New York Blood Center and is among the nation's premium providers of blood products and services and an integral part of the Rhode Island community's health care system. As of December 2018, the Rhode Island Blood Center employs approximately 320 full- and part-time employees. As a team member of our call center, you will be accountable for achieving individual, department and company blood collection goals to meet the blood supply needs of Rhode Island. You must be positive and professional and be able to work effectively with a variety of customers to secure blood donation appointments. You must be enthusiastic, goal-oriented and self-motivated and be able to negotiate in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Performs daily telephone recruitment of past and potential blood donors--is accountable for achieving individual, department and company blood collection goals through efficient donor scheduling.
• Provides donor customer service—answers questions, comments and inquires maintaining excellent public relations through telephone, verbal and written communications. Educates donors concerning donating and eligibility criteria.
• Maintains accurate and updated donor data, ensures correct documentation, quality assurance, quality control, document accuracy and completeness, and follows procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Markets company-sponsored events to donors--giveaways, raffles, sponsor and community blood drives.
A high school diploma or equivalency and strong computer skills are required. Must have the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people. Must have prior sales phone experience with above average close rates. Must be on time and dependable, committed and willing to work flexible hours including weekends. Must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, self-motivated, a good listener, well organized and have the ability to work independently. Ideal candidate would have prior experience working in a call center environment or setting.
Part-time work schedule of 20 hours per week. Candidates should be available between 9am-5pm with a Sunday - Saturday scheduling.
The proposed hourly wage for this postion is $17.82.
Offers made to an individual candidate will depend on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, and job-related education.
